Our client is an Insurance Builder who strives to be an employer of choice within their industry. Their strategy required them to make some cultural shifts in the way their staff responded to Customer satisfaction and Operational Excellence. A survey was undertaken that utilized the concept of ‘Unwritten ground Rules’ to uncover the underlying beliefs of employees relating to key aspects of their strategy. This survey asked employees to respond to 10 free text questions with lead in sentences such as:

Around here, when someone comes up with a new idea…. Or

Around here, when problems/issues arise….

3 areas of focus were selected, and staff were engaged through focus groups to develop action plans. After 12 months the organisations Net Promoter Score (customer satisfaction measure) increased and their turnover in suppliers (contracted trades) decreased. They also experienced a noticeable improvement in personal accountability.

Aligning culture with strategy

Our client is a non-profit providing services to people experiencing homelessness. Their strategy requires them to challenge current beliefs and practices within the sector and to advocate for voices not present, particularly in relating to ageing people who experience or have experienced homelessness.

We assisted the organisation to select a cultural framework and survey and aligned their results, key performance measures and action plans to 3 key focus areas identified through the survey.

The survey asked respondents to rate between two polarizing statements. Questions measured the cultural attributes aligned to 4 cultural domains being: Inspire, Deliver, Enable and Adapt,

Senior leaders were educated on how to interpret the results through interactive workshops conducted by our principal consultant, and then coached and supported to engage with employees at the team level to provide input into their selected action plans.  The organisation will track progress of these team level initiatives and measure progress through 6 monthly pulse surveys before conducting a full re survey in 2 years’ time.
